A current minor league player, Tony is a native of California and resides in Tennessee. Upon graduating from Vanderbilt University, Tony was drafted by the Pittsburgh Pirates in the 2005 draft. 

As the son of a major league coach, Tony received his baseball education at a very young age while growing up in the clubhouses of professional baseball.

During the off season Tony spends his time training, coaching aspiring ball players, and substitute teaching.
